We start with a detailed concept plan before diving headfirst into major design commitments. This means every aspect of your project is thoughtfully considered. We also scope the project with an initial idea of costs, giving you confidence and direction before moving forward. What kind of time does planning take and when should we start?

Planning is a crucial part of our process, and we don’t compromise on it. We love when clients reach out early — sometimes even a year or two before they want to start. The concept plan typically takes about a month, while detailed planning (which covers all the specifics) can take 3-6 months, depending on the project’s size. After that, we like to allow 2 months for production, including permits and product ordering. The build itself can range from 4 months to a year, depending on the scale. Starting early gives us the time to ensure every detail is perfect.

How do you handle unexpected issues during the project?

We prioritize clear communication and thorough planning to minimize surprises. While we can't always predict what's behind the walls, our detailed analysis and potential issue checklist help us stay ahead of unexpected challenges. Our diligence pays off, we are dramatically under the industry average for unforeseen change orders! When something does come up, we address it quickly with a solution-oriented approach.

How do you manage project timelines?

We’re proactive about keeping your project on schedule. By ordering materials early and maintaining constant communication with our team, we’re able to reduce delays. We also build flexibility into our timelines to account for Minnesota's unpredictable weather. Throughout the project, we keep you updated via your preferred communication method, so you're always in the loop.

What measures do you take to maintain a clean living environment during remodeling?

Creating clean, healthy homes is a top priority for us. Even though most homeowners move out during renovations, the effects can linger long after the job is done. That’s why we work hard to control dust throughout construction using air scrubbers, filters, and other methods. We also design spaces with cross ventilation and natural light, prefer hard surfaces over carpets, and choose low and no VOC paints. Our meticulous end-of-construction clean includes duct cleaning and thorough dust elimination, so you can enjoy your new home the very next day it’s finished.

Do I need to move out during my remodel?

Yes, we strongly recommend it. Living through a remodel can be stressful and disruptive, and it’s much healthier for your family to be out of the home. Plus, when the space is clear, our team can work more efficiently, helping to complete your project faster and with fewer interruptions.

What options are there for financing a build or remodel?

Cash is always great, but we understand that’s not always possible. We have excellent resources for construction loans, whether you’re remodeling or building a new home, as well as Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC). These are the most common options our clients use. We jump right into cost discussions early on to make sure your project aligns with your budget, so there are no surprises later.

Absolutely, we are fully licensed and insured for remodeling and construction work. We carry comprehensive coverage, including workers' compensation and liability insurance, to protect you and your home. We also regularly audit our team of subcontractors to make sure they’re fully licensed, registered with the state, and insured, so you can have complete peace of mind.
