In our last post, we shared how we transformed the main floor of this Cape Cod-inspired home. Today, we’re taking you upstairs—because this remodel was just as much about adding space and function as it was about style.
To start, we tore off the entire roof and rebuilt it with a shed dormer, giving the home much-needed square footage and a refreshed profile from the street. The new roofline instantly made the home feel taller and more balanced, while also opening the opportunity to vault every bedroom to soaring 13-foot ceilings—something you rarely see in a Cape Cod style home.

We carried that same thoughtful approach to the exterior details. Fresh trim work highlights the clean rooflines and frames the dormer, creating a crisp, timeless look. The updated siding paired with the bright white trim keeps the house true to its Cape Cod roots, while the added architectural lines make it feel modern and elevated. The exterior now feels more symmetrical and welcoming, giving this home a “just right” blend of charm and curb appeal.
Inside, one of the most impactful changes was around the staircase. By opening it up, we created more breathing room and a natural flow to the new level. The primary suite now features a spacious walk-in closet, making everyday living a little more functional and a lot more organized.
And then there’s the bathroom—a true showstopper. We designed it with black hexagon tile floors that ground the space with a modern edge, paired with a two-sink vanity that feels both timeless and elegant. The vanity is accented with gold hardware, a detail echoed in the black-and-white pendants with gold detail that hang above, adding just the right amount of personality. The walk-in shower, complete with a built-in bench, balances beauty with everyday practicality.

The result? A second floor and exterior that feel open, airy, and intentional—while honoring the Cape Cod charm that drew our clients to the home in the first place.
